Estée Lauder has pledged to make
its global corporate fleet entirely electric.
The company’s fleet currently contains roughly 2,200 vehicles and the company are already making the swap as electric vehicles (EVs) are being tested and deployed into the fleet, mostly within the Middle East and Africa. The main aim of the shift is to lower the company’s Scope 1 greenhouse gas emissions, in order to lower their carbon footprint.
They also plan to lower their Scope 3 emissions, as in Canada and Switzerland, diesel trucks are already being swapped for their electric counterpart for deliveries.
The company has begun to put measures into place to accommodate the increase in EVs by setting up charging stations in their car parks across North America and Europe. This is to encourage the workers to opt for an electric vehicle as well, in order to lower emissions throughout the workforce.
Nancy Mohan, Estée Lauder’s Senior Vice President for Global Corporate Citizenship and Sustainability, has stated that, “The Estée Lauder Companies has a deep commitment to helping accelerate the transition to a low carbon future, and the electrification of our corporate fleet is an important next step in our sustainability journey. Our hope is that our commitment to clean transportation will not only help to reduce our impact and engage our employees in our commitment, but also inspire similar action by others in the industry and beyond.”
